Federer raves about Djokovic: “Absolutely unbelievable”

After winning the 23rd Grand Slam title at the French Open, Roger Federer has praised the new record champion Novak Djokovic in the highest tones.

“It’s almost unbelievable,” said Federer on Wednesday at the tennis tournament in Halle, Westphalia, in a small media round about the Serbs. “What he did is of course absolutely gigantic,” said the 41-year-old Swiss, who ended his career last September.

When asked whether Djokovic was the greatest tennis player in history, Federer kept a low profile.

“It’s difficult to say. The whole discussion is difficult to answer. I said to a friend: What’s more difficult: winning Wimbledon at 17 like Boris Becker or the French Open at 36 like Novak? I don’t know,” said Federer, who has won 20 Grand Slam titles in his impressive career.
