FC Volendam must tame Burak Yilmaz: “You can make a DVD of his goals”

A real six-point match for FC Volendam, which will visit competitor Fortuna Sittard on Sunday. The Limburgers have to watch out for Burak Yilmaz. “With Yilmaz they have an international striker, which is dangerous,” says trainer Wim Jonk.

FC Volendam is the current number fifteen in the Eredivisie and will visit the number sixteen Fortuna. “In terms of level and position, it is close to each other. But it is one of the 34 matches,” says Jonk about the confrontation.

Internationals

Recently FC Volendam has a number of internationals. Filip Stankovic made his official debut under the bar with Young Serbia, Ibrahim El Kadiri played almost the entire match for Young Morocco and Billy van Duijl played for the Dutch Under-18 team. “They gain experience there that they also take to the club. That makes them better and us better too,” says Jonk, who saw Stankovic rejoin Volendam for the first time on Thursday.

For El Kadiri, the trip to Morocco was finally an opportunity to show himself from the start. The 20-year-old winger played two international matches against Senegal. And that while he hardly gets to play at FC Volendam anymore. “So far it’s going well, but it could be better,” says El Kadiri.
