FC Volendam is also angling for transfer-free midfielder Maulun

After George Cox, FC Volendam has received the second transfer-free reinforcement. French midfielder Robin Maulun has been added to the selection of coach Matthias Kohler. Maulun played football for SC Cambuur for five seasons. FC Volendam has not yet confirmed his arrival.

In the first season in the Premier League, the now 26-year-old Maulun was a basic player for the Leeuwarders. He scored 5 goals in 31 league games. Last season, partly due to persistent injuries, he did not make more than 7 appearances, of which only 3 were in the starting line-up. Maulun played his last match with Cambuur on March 19 against Excelsior.

Partly because he did not play much last season, relegated Cambuur decided to formally terminate Maulun’s contract. The Frenchman also indicated that he was ready for a new challenge after five years.

FC Volendam was after the departure of captain Carel Eiting to FC Twente Urgently looking for reinforcement for the midfield. Because the transfer window has been closed since Friday September 1, the bottom line in the Premier League is looking in the pond of players who currently do not have a club. It is not clear whether Maulun will be available for the home match against Heracles Almelo next Saturday. Just like with Cox, the paperwork with the KNVB still has to be completed.

Luke Le Roux returns

Luke Le Roux is eligible to play, but the South African international is still on his way back from a minor injury. In recent weeks he has been working on his recovery in his homeland, but the 23-year-old midfielder is now training with the selection of trainer Matthias Kohler.
