The stadium of FC Volendam will be called the Wim Kras stadium for once tomorrow. The football club exchanges the name of sponsor Kras Recycling for the football legend who played no fewer than 381 matches in the first team between 1959 and 1974. The Volendammer died on Tuesday at the age of 79.
What is special is that Kras is still the youngest debutant in the premier league. When he entered the line on November 22, 1959 in the home game against Ajax, he was only 15 years and 290 days. After his active career, Kras was active for many years in the guidance of Volendam talents.
The renaming of the stadium name has been discussed with former chairman and sponsor Henk Kras, who is not directly related.
Before the kick-off of the match against Vitesse, the audience is asked to applaud for one minute. The game against the team from Arnhem starts at 4.30 pm.
