FC St. Pauli presents new assistant coach

The second division FC St. Pauli has a new assistant coach. As the club announced, Peter Németh will be assistant to Fabian Hürzeler, who was promoted to Hamburg’s head coach last Friday.

Among other things, the 50-year-old Németh was involved as an assistant coach at Arminia Bielefeld in the promotion to the Bundesliga after the 2019/20 season. At Dynamo Dresden in 2015 he was the boss in 13 third-division games and in the round of 16 of the cup. As a player, the Slovak was active at Eintracht Frankfurt from 2001 to 2002.

“Peter Németh has gained a lot of experience as an assistant coach. He’s a meticulous worker and always wants to improve. That means he meets exactly the requirements that are important to us,” said St. Pauli’s sports director Andreas Bornemann about the 22-fold Slovak national player.

Fabian Hürzeler emphasized: “For me it is crucial to find an assistant coach for our team with whom I can exchange ideas openly and constructively.” Németh himself described FC St. Pauli as an “exciting challenge”.

The Hamburgers parted ways with their previous coach Timo Schultz on December 6th. After the first half of the season, the neighborhood club is in 15th place with 17 points and just one point ahead of 18th place. FC St. Pauli will start the second half of the season on January 29 with a game at 1. FC Nürnberg.
