FC Southampton, who is at risk of relegation, introduced Johannes Spors as Group Technical Director. The 42-year-old was most recently active as Global Sports Director in the 777 Football Group for FC Genoa, Standard Liège and Vasco da Gama. Spurs is known from the Bundesliga as the chief scout of RB Leipzig and Hamburger SV.
Spurs will start his post on February 15 and is only subordinate to the CEO Phil Parsons. “I am happy to finally start with Southampton. The Saints are an association with a great story and the commitment to develop players, not only in the academy, but also in the first team, ”he said in the club announcement.
“His expertise in the fields of talent recognition, recruitment strategy and long -term squad development will be of crucial importance in strengthening the club’s football business,” says the association’s website.
