FC Schalke 04 | Too bad for the Bundesliga? Terodde will “probably never get rid of the stamp”

At the weekend in the Bundesliga there will be a duel between the teams VfB Stuttgart and FC Schalke 04, who have not won so far. Ahead of the match, ex-national keeper Timo Hildebrand, who played for both clubs in his career, spoke about the start-up difficulties of the miners after being promoted again. Goalless striker Simon Terodde was also discussed.

What seemed unimaginable in the previous season is now the bitter reality for FC Schalke: after four matchdays, the Royal Blues are still waiting for the first goal of their promotion guarantor Simon Terodde, who struck 30 times in the lower house in 2021/2022.

Recently, the voices accusing the veteran of not having the necessary skills for the 1st Bundesliga have become louder again.

The situation is deadlocked for former DFB goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand. “Unfortunately, I think he’ll probably never get rid of this stamp,” said the 43-year-old in an interview with “WAZ“. Alluding to Terodde’s double miss in Wolfsburg, he added: “Then it’s of course all the more bitter for him that he immediately misses two penalties.”

Nevertheless, Hildebrand emphasized that the S04 professional was “a great striker” who “will score again soon”.

“Simply no continuity” at FC Schalke 04

The long-time goalkeeper, whose contact with his former club Schalke, according to his own statement, “has become less and less in recent years”, also criticized the development in Gelsenkirchen.

There has been “simply no continuity in terms of the people involved” over the past decade, Hildebrand complained.

The Ruhrpott giant changed coaches almost every year, sometimes several times in one season. In terms of sport, things gradually went downhill.

Backing for Schwolow

Recently, the staff was discussed again in the environment of FC Schalke, but related to the current squad. The first doubts about the new keeper Alexander Schwolow, who was loaned out by Hertha BSC and failed several times, arose.

“A goalkeeper discussion after so few matchdays is never good and harms the club. For me it doesn’t make any sense to change the goalkeeper immediately after a bad performance. I think it’s much more important that certain automatisms play a role on the defensive. But that’s the case the whole team”, Hildebrand Schwolow defended.
