FC Schalke 04 | Thon counts on storm duo Terodde/Polter: “I expect more”

After the quick return to the Bundesliga, only staying up in the league counts for FC Schalke 04. Two hopefuls on the way to remaining in the league are the two center forwards Simon Terodde and Sebastian Polter. However, Knappen legend Olaf Thon is not completely convinced of the duo.

FC Schalke 04 lost the most recent endurance test against Twente Enschede 3-1. Not a broken leg for the Royal Blues, but an indication that coach Frank Kramer and his protégés still have a lot of work to do.

Olaf Thon, living legend of the Ruhrpott giants, saw the showdown with Twente live. The 56-year-old wasn’t enthusiastic, he particularly disliked the powerful storm duo Simon Terodde/Sebastian Polter.

“Let’s put it this way: I expect more,” Thon summed up his impressions of the two attackers in an interview with “RevierSport” together.

It is currently still unclear whether the experienced clippers will actually be allowed to edge next to each other in the future or whether they are position competitors. Coach Kramer wants to keep all tactical options open.

FC Schalke “a team with many no-names”

Thon knows that not every wheel can mesh with his Schalke players. “The squad reorganization had similar dimensions as the year before. But now with the focus on the first division,” explained the former national player.

He “assumes that at the end of the transfer time there will be a lot more going on, both on the delivery and on the access side,” added the native of Gelsenkirchen.

For the new season, Thon wishes above all humility and modesty. “Whoever plays in the first division can make up for and compensate for a lot with team spirit. Everyone knows that we have a team with a lot of no-names. And the goals are set accordingly,” emphasized the 1990 world champion.
