Between 2009 and 2012, Philipp Hofmann wore the jersey of FC Schalke. At that time, the attacker worked his way up from the U17s to the ranks of the professional squad. In the end, however, he was never used for the first team of the Knappen.
Before the reunion with the Ruhrpott-Klub, the tall striker has now spoken about his memories of Schalke. Hofmann is no longer concerned with the fact that it was never enough for the Bundesliga team.
“The competition was very strong back then – with players like Huntelaar, Szalai or Marica. I still went my own way,” emphasized the Sauerland native in the “RevierSport“Interview. In general, he has “many great memories” of S04.

“I wanted to change last summer and was almost in agreement with Union Berlin. But KSC didn’t let me go. That annoyed me – but of course I respected the club’s decision,” revealed Hofmann.
In 2022 it could now be so far. Apparently, S04 can also count on chances to win back the prodigal son.
“I’ve often said that I would like to play for Schalke. But it would also depend on which league they play in. But I would definitely listen to it. Schalke would already have a bonus over others because of my solidarity unite,” explained Hofmann.

But first the second division duel on the 24th matchday is on the program. Hofmann, who has already scored twelve goals this season, knows the strengths of the miners, but still wants to hurt them.
He said of Dimitrios Grammozis’ team’s chances of promotion: “It’s not easy to judge because it’s really close. The last win against Paderborn was very important, but it will be difficult for Schalke. S04 has to score regularly there. […] I wish the club that it works.”
At the same time, Hofmann revealed that he saw two direct competitors of the Royal Blues at an advantage. “Bremen has been the strongest opponent so far. I think they’ll come first. St. Pauli will come second. Schalke will be third and meet FC Augsburg in the relegation game,” predicted the 28-year-old.
