FC Schalke 04 has found a new sports director in Frank Baumann. According to various media reports, sports director Youri Mulder also confirmed that the ex-bremer was about to sign on the S04.
“The thumb still have to be up. But I think it’s a good choice,” Mulder told “Sky” before FC Schalke 04’s second division game.
The fact that Frank Baumann will take over the vacant positions since the beginning of 2024 is currently “not yet official,” said Mulder. However, the royal blue apparently only separated the final formalities of an official proclamation of the personnel.
“A signature still has to be made,” said Mulder. Immediately before the home game, there were discussions between Baumann and those responsible on Schalke on Sunday morning.

The day before, “Bild” and “Kicker” had already reported that Schalke finally found a successor to Peter Knäbel after months of search.
After the old sports director was released, the shortcomings had redistributed the skills. Mulder initially moved from the supervisory board to the first row. So far, his commitment has been limited until the end of the season.
He will “still have discussions” about his own future, announced Mulder: “I would always like to help the club. Let’s see what it looks like then. I think there is already a commitment to work together in the future.”
Baumann probably already has a say in this question. Because although the ex-bremer should only take over in summer, according to “Bild” and “WAZ” it is involved in all sporting decisions before he took office.
