FC Ingolstadt suffered a painful defeat against SC Freiburg II

FC Ingolstadt suffered a particularly painful defeat in the fight for a return to the 2nd Bundesliga.

The Schanzer had to admit defeat to third division bottom club SC Freiburg II 2:3 (2:1) in their own stadium on Friday evening – and were still leading until the 89th minute.

Ingolstadt, fifth in the 3rd league, has 39 points. SSV Ulm is five points behind in third place in the relegation zone. The gap can increase as the 26th matchday progresses.

Sebastian Grönning (19′) and Jannik Mause (45+2′, penalty kick) scored for Ingolstadt, in the second half Bryang Kayo was shown a yellow-red card (57′) for repeated foul play.

Freiburg’s Yann Sturm (89th) equalized late for the guests, and in the third minute of added time Maximilian Breunig (90th + 3) scored for Breisgauer’s third win of the season. The striker had already taken the lead early in the game (7th).
