FC Emmen and Burnet are out: contract for one season plus option

FOOTBALL – He already hinted at it immediately after the last game against ADO Den Haag and now the ball is also formally through the church. Lorenzo Burnet will stay with FC Emmen. The left back and the Drenthe club agreed on a contract for one season, with an option for a second year.

The 31-year-old Burnet signed his first contract with FC Emmen in 2019. After a one-year adventure abroad with the Danish HB Køge, he returned to Drenthe and this season he became the permanent champion of the first division. Next season will therefore be his second Eredivisie season with the club.

“Last season was simply amazing,” Burnet said. “A nice group of players, fantastic atmosphere in the stadium, periods taken, promoted and also become champion. I am looking forward to entering the Eredivisie with FC Emmen again.”

Yet the defender, who was chosen as player of the year in the Kitchen Champion Division at football weekly VI, was also critical of himself. “In many duels I did not reach the level that I can achieve. With two goals and one assist, I think my share in an attacking sense is too meager. Of course, as a defender you have to look at the defensive part in the first instance and that was very good this year , but as a player you always want more.”
