FC Eindhoven keeps winning: still a chance for period title

FC Eindhoven remains in the race for the third period in the Kitchen Champion Division. Young AZ was also beaten (1-3). TOP Oss and NAC Breda also took full advantage of the other Brabant clubs that came into action on Friday evening.

Young AZ – FC Eindhoven 1-3

FC Eindhoven had a dream start. Already after 2 minutes the team of the debuting trainer Rob Penders took the lead at Jong AZ. Jasper Dahlhaus was the maker of the opening goal, thanks to the weak defense of Jong AZ. Even after the break it was fast. Joey Sleegers, who rarely misses from 11 meters, doubled the Eindhoven lead with a penalty kick. It was already his thirteenth league goal.

It didn’t stop at this 0-2, because in the 62nd minute Ernest Poku took advantage of a carelessness in the Eindhoven defense. But the margin of two was quickly restored by Valentino Vermeulen. So it became 1-3. With this sixth win in a row, the Blues and Whites reinforce their ambition to win the third period. They have been unbeaten for nine consecutive games.

De Graafschap – FC Den Bosch 0-0

The previous three matches between the number 7 and the number 15 of the Kitchen Champion Division yielded an average of four hits. This Friday evening there was not once to cheer in Doetinchem: 0-0. The fact that FC Den Bosch did not have to concede a goal was partly due to keeper/captain Wouter van der Steen.

Volendam – Helmond Sport 4-1

Helmond Sport already had a frustrating start. Although the last player had a brutal start against leader FC Volendam, he still faced a 2-0 deficit after 10 minutes. Both goals came from the home team’s top scorer, Robert Mühren. It was his 21st and 22nd goal of this competition.

Trainer Sven Swinnen must have imagined a different debut. The successor to the recently dismissed Wil Boessen and his team were spared nothing, because in the 24th minute, Gaetano Oristanio was very little in the way and that meant the 3-0. Fifteen minutes later Boy Deul had free play: 4-0. Only once was Helmond Sport really dangerous. For example, after more than an hour of play, Jellert van Landschoot missed a nice opportunity. In the 85th minute, Mees Rijks managed to save the honour.

TOP Oss – Young FC Utrecht 4-1

Giovannni Büttner broke the spell in Oss. In the 22nd minute he scored from the rebound after a long shot from Kay Tejan. Just under 10 minutes later, TOP already led 2-0 after a wonderful attack, finished by Rick Stuy van den Herik. In the 37th, Tejan himself made it 3-0 and two minutes later the air raid siren sounded again (signal for a TOP goal). Star Jearl Margaritha was the one who took the 4-0. Not much happened after the break, except for the Utrecht goal against Mees Rijks in the 70th minute.

NAC Breda – Young PSV 3-1

The NAC fans were in a good (carnival) mood, but after almost 25 minutes they still had to deal with a hangover. Jeremey Antonissen opened the score for Jong PSV with a beautiful shot. Within 5 minutes, however, it was party time again in the packed Breda stands when Naoufal Bannis equalized after a failure. In the final phase, the game was decided in favor of NAC by Ralf Seuntjens – with his 11th league goal – and Kaj de Rooij.
