It is 15.70 meters high and 10.54 meters wide: a Franz Beckenbauer jersey in XXL version. It was now a special place in Munich.

FC Bayern has set a visible sign of memory of Franz Beckenbauer. From now on, a huge jersey with the legendary rear number five of the “Kaiser” hangs under the roof of the Allianz Arena. The XXL-Jersey was first seen around the Champions League game against Bayer Leverkusen above the south curve.

According to the association, the jersey consists of 32 printed, non-flammable glass fabric towels. It measures 15.70 meters in height and 10.54 meters in width.

Bavaria’s President Herbert Hainer emphasized the special connection of the club to Beckenbauer: “We are very pleased that the Franz Beckenbauer association honors this extraordinary way in his Allianz Arena after our members have decided at the annual general meeting not to assign its number five in the future.”

“In this stadium, the sporty heart of FC Bayern beats, and the deep connection of the club to our ’emperor’ is always to be seen at the games,” said the club boss.

Franz Beckenbauer, a formative figure of German football, died on January 7, 2024 at the age of 78.
