FC Bayern had to overcome an early deficit against PSG. But the Munich team turned the game around and remained at the top of the table.
The women of FC Bayern Munich are staying at the top of the table in the Champions League. With a 3-1 (2-1) win at Paris Saint-Germain on Thursday evening, the Munich team celebrated their third win in their fourth game and are fifth in the table with nine points, but only one point behind leaders FC Barcelona. The German double winners are at least almost guaranteed a ticket to the play-offs, and direct qualification for the quarter-finals is also still within reach.
Bayern set the tone at the start of the game, but had to overcome the deficit in the 16th minute with a goal from Sakina Karchaoui. Just a minute later, Linda Dallmann was able to equalize. In the 34th minute, Momoko Tanikawa finally turned the game around after a good solo run. In the final phase, PSG pushed for an equalizer again, but Bayern initially remained stable defensively and put the lid on it in the 89th minute through Jovana Damnjanovic. It was the fourth defeat in the fourth game for the French. They are bottom of the table.
In the Prinzenpark, the Munich women dominated the initial phase and did not let the early setback upset them – Dallmann’s answer followed immediately. The Bundesliga leaders then kept the pressure high. After preparatory work by national player Klara Bühl, Tanikawa, who initially dribbled out several opponents and whose powerful shot was then deflected under the crossbar, scored, worth seeing.
Even after the break, the Munich team largely had the game under control, but became increasingly passive. Paris sensed their chance, Pernille Harder, on the other hand, missed the preliminary decision in favor of the guests in the final phase and hit the crossbar (73′). PSG tried to score an equalizer. Bayern held out before Damnjanovic made the decision.
