FC Bayern is apparently considering purchasing another venue – and is thereby upsetting the fans of a regional league team. They are now reacting.
The media report about advanced negotiations between SpVgg Unterhaching and FC Bayern over a sale of the sports park has sparked discontent among the regional league club’s supporters. At the home game against the Würzburger Kickers last Friday, the fans expressed their protest with a boycott in the first half and with loud shouts of abuse and a banner in the second half. It read: “Sports park in Hachinger Hand”.
Last week, the “Bild” newspaper reported that FC Bayern was considering purchasing a new stadium for its women’s team. The Hachinger Sports Park is under discussion, which, according to the report, will cost around 7.5 million euros. According to reports, there are supposed to be considerations, but they are not yet as advanced as reported.
A new stadium has been an issue for the Bayern women for a long time. The team is currently playing at the FC Bayern Campus, which can accommodate 2,500 spectators. The footballers also occasionally play in the Allianz Arena, which has a capacity of 75,000 spectators, but is too large for the standard program. The next game in the arena will be in the Champions League against Arsenal on November 12th.
The Unterhaching sports park offers space for around 15,000 fans. The local regional league team is currently playing in the Unterhaching sports park. Since there is a strategic partnership between FC Bayern and SpVgg Unterhaching in the youth sector, a solution should also be found in the event of Germany’s top club purchasing the sports park from the city of Unterhaching.
