The deal was in the works, now it is perfect: FC Bayern has signed Tom Bischof. The midfielder comes from the Bundesliga competition.

Germany’s U20 international Tom Bischof will play for FC Bayern from the summer. The German record champions announced this on Tuesday. The 19-year-old signs a contract in Munich until 2029. FC Bayern does not have to pay any transfer fees.

The reason: Bischof’s contract with his current employer, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, expires in a few months. The Aschaffenburg native was already trained in his youth at the current fifteenth place in the Bundesliga. He made his first appearance for the professional team in March 2022.

However, Bischof only achieved his final breakthrough this season. He has been in Hoffenheim since the start of the season, played 16 games in the league and contributed two goals and just as many assists. Bischof also played six times in the Europa League (one assist) and twice in the DFB Cup. This is one of the reasons why Bischof is considered a great talent in Germany – and a promise for the future.

Bayern’s sporting director Christoph Freund said of the signing: “Tom Bischof is one of the greatest German talents who is already attracting international interest. At just 19 years old, he has already gained a lot of experience in professional football, in the Bundesliga and in the DFB Cup and the Europa League.”

And further: “As a strong midfielder, Tom fits perfectly with our orientation. We are pleased that he has decided to take his next steps at FC Bayern. Tom has everything he needs to establish himself at the highest level.”

Sports director Max Eberl also emphasized that Bischof is an “extraordinary player who has incredibly great potential.” A statement that can also be factually verified. Bischof made his debut in the German U16 national team in 2020. Since then he has gone through all of the DFB’s junior teams up to the U20 level. In 2024 he also received the Fritz Walter Gold Medal as Young Player of the Year in the U19 age group.
