Anyone who knows Olise from Crystal Palace and Reading knows that they had violent fluctuations – both within a season and compared to several seasons. In addition, in my opinion, he must first confirm that he can keep this level in the long term. I don’t see that as guaranteed.
Furthermore, Coman is talked far too bad here. He is one of the best Bundesliga players this season and stands out significantly from Sané and Gnabry. At Whuscored, he only had a rating under 7.1 in the Bundesliga – and that was in the 2016/17 season. These services are far from “good”, they are very, very good!
Since he has kept his level constant over eight years, he is undoubtedly world class. Sure, he is injured too often – I don’t want to talk that small. But it is not the case that Bayern would have to pay him completely if it fails. To sell him would therefore be stupid.
The only understandable reason would be his age – at the age of 28, Bavaria could get money again for him. His playing style may also play a role: Olise and Musiala are not classic wingers who stick to the line, but look for the way inwards early. So it could also be a tactical decision.
For me as an outsider, Coman is also a face of FC Bayern. I cannot imagine that it is different for fans-especially because of his Champions League goal. Given the many upcoming departures, not an insignificant factor.
However, the tactical decision mentioned would also apply to Gnabry – not necessarily at Sané. Here you should remember the flick era. But the fact is: Both are currently weaker than a Coman.
To take whoscored again as a yardstick:
Sané and Gnabry both have a value under 7.
In Sanés five Bayern season, it was twice below 7 (including this season) and three times above. His strongest Bundesliga season was last year.
Coman and Sané are the same, Gnabry is one year older.
Gnabry also had a rating under 7 – this and last season. Although you have to mention here that he had “only” ten missions last season. However, his operating times and services have a clear descending tendency.
Placing him on a level with Coman is just ridiculous – both up -to -date and in the past. The statistics (also at FBREF) clearly show that Coman is the second strongest wing player in Bavaria.
Problem: German players and training
However – and this is not unimportant – Bavaria has a serious problem to fulfill the conditions, regarding players who were trained in the association and/or club, as well as the number of players with a German passport.
Short reminder:
You need 12 players with a German passport.
At least four players must be trained by their own association (three years in a row in the club between the ages of 16 and 21).
In addition, at least eight players must have been trained in Germany (three years in a row in Germany).
Players with a German passport who will soon leave Bavaria (at least):
Neuer, Ulreich and Müller.
Sané and Kimmich only have a contract until the end of this season – which could mean two further departures.
The contracts of Gnabry, Vidović, Goretzka and Buchmann will also run out after the coming season.
These are not only many names, but also players who, according to the report, are on the strike list.
Assuming they all leave the club – then Bayern would have with:
Nübel, Urbig, Peretz, Musiala, Stanišić, Pavlović, Bishop, Wanner, Adu, Krattenmacher, Krätzig and Ibrahimović still 12 players with a German passport.
Yes, that’s enough – but:
It is questionable whether all these players prevail at Bavaria and/or have the necessary level in the long term.
The eight players who must be trained in Germany would then be:
Nübel, Urbig, Stanišić, Pavlović, Musiala, Bishop, Wanner and Krattenmacher.
The four Bayern-own youth players would be:
Stanišić, Pavlović, Musiala, scratchy – and possibly Adu when he is no longer awarded the next three seasons.
So all three conditions would be just fulfilled.
Problem in the Bundesliga?
Rather not – if you need, goalkeeper can be put into the contingent 4/5/6.
Problem in the Champions League?
Yes! Bavaria loses a place on the A list for each condition not fulfilled.
Why is this relevant in connection with Coman?
Because Bavaria may not only be based on the performance in future departures, but also has to think of these conditions.
Should Sané or Gnabry be such a “conditional player”, Corman could-despite a clear performance-come into view.
In addition, it is not a matter of course that all players mentioned want to stay with Bavaria in the long term. If only one left the club, Bayern would not have met at least one of these conditions from 2026/27.
