Last summer, Joao Palhinha’s transfer to FC Bayern fell through spectacularly. According to CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen, a commitment from the Portuguese is still possible in the future.

“You always see each other twice in life,” Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said a few months ago about a possible signing of Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha. Speculation quickly increased that the Munich team could make a new attempt at the six in the winter.

After the German record champions’ 0-1 defeat against Werder Bremen on Sunday, Dreesen was now reminded of his words – after all, the transfer period doesn’t end until February 1st. His answer to “Sky”: “Sometimes you see each other more than twice in your life. You should never rule anything out.”

Is the Bayern boss opening the door again for a possible winter transfer of Palhinha? Probably not. “Our focus at the moment is on the right-back position,” said Dreesen, confirming the Bundesliga runner-up’s plans.

FC Bayern has chosen two transfer options

According to reports, FC Bayern primarily chose Nordi Mukiele from Paris Saint-Germain for the problem area in defense. Whether a transfer can take place by the end of the transfer period now depends on the final negotiations.

As several media outlets consistently report, the Munich team prefers a loan with an option to buy. PSG, on the other hand, allegedly wants to contractually establish a purchase obligation.

Kieran Trippier from Tottenham Hotspur was traded as an alternative. According to Sky UK, the 33-year-old could also be loaned out in the winter with an obligation to buy, but from the Munich-based company’s perspective the transfer fee would be cheaper. Apparently a verbal agreement has already been reached with the player and the Englishman has given the green light for a change from his side.
