FC Bayern loses poker for Radu Dragusin

On Tuesday evening it was announced that FC Bayern’s offer in the race for Genoa star Radu Dragusin was said to be slightly higher than Tottenham Hotspur’s offer. Events came to a head on Wednesday morning. The German record champions have apparently lost the tug of war.

During the course of Tuesday, Radu Dragusin’s move from FC Genoa to Tottenham Hotspur was actually already considered a done deal. According to media reports, 25 million euros plus possible bonus counts of up to five million euros and a contract valid until 2029 were in the room. The big turnaround followed on Tuesday evening.

Italian transfer journalists Fabrizio Romano and Gianluca Di Marzio reported that FC Bayern had presented the Serie A club with an “acceptable offer” for the central defender. According to Romano, the offer from the German record champions is just above the offer from London.

“Sky” reporter Florian Plettenberg was able to confirm this information on X early Wednesday morning – and specify it using concrete numbers. Accordingly, Bayern are offering Dragusin a contract until 2029 and FC Genoa are offering a base amount of 23.5 million euros plus possible bonuses of up to 7.5 million euros.

FC Bayern was “very confident” in Dragusin poker

Dragusin will decide between Bayern and Tottenham on Wednesday, Plettenberg reported. The Munich club bosses were therefore “very confident” of winning the tug of war over the 21-year-old Romanian and expected him to choose FC Bayern.

Plettenberg identified Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel and FCB sporting director Christoph Freund as the driving forces behind the transfer, who wanted the player “now”.

Only a little later, however, Gianluca di Marzio reported on X that Dragusin had decided on Tottenham. The player is expected for a medical check in London on Wednesday.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Spurs improved their offer on Wednesday night. “Sportitalia” had previously reported that Dragusin was considering a move to Säbener Straße.

Dragusin, who trained at Juventus Turin from 2018 and has already made twelve senior international appearances for Romania, is one of the discoveries of the current Serie A season with two goals and one assist in 19 games.
