Once again without world champion coach Gordon Herbert, Bayern Munich’s basketball team lost the second game of their away tour in the EuroLeague.
At Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz, the German champions, where assistant TJ Parker replaced his sick head coach on the sidelines, lost by a clear 73:95 (41:42) after a strong start.
A week after the 72:74 at Turkish record champions Anadolu Efes, the first of seven away games in a row, Bayern got off to a furious start and led 26:14 after the first quarter. But in the second section, the Munich team gave up their lead. In the second half the Basques pulled away more and more.
Munich’s best thrower was world champion Andreas Obst with 14 points, while Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot was responsible for 18 points for the hosts. With five wins in the first twelve games, Bayern have to worry about the play-offs.
