Lots of details to clarify
After his separation from FC Bayern, Julian Nagelsmann is particularly popular in England. According to information from the TV station “skyThe 35-year-old has had talks with Tottenham Hotspur officials over the past few days. According to this, CEO Daniel Levy in particular should be a big supporter of the German coach. The English media also took up the report.
Nagelsmann is generally not averse, but many details still have to be clarified before a possible contract is signed, it is said. Born in Bavaria, he is still under contract with FCB until the end of 2026, and his potential new club would very likely have to pay a fee to the German record champions. In addition, after the departure of sports director Fabio Paratici, it is unclear who and in what form will lead the sporting fortunes of “Spurs” in the future.
Nagelsmann, Potter & Co.: These well-known trainers are on the market
At the end of March, the English newspaper “The Times” reported that Tottenham was trying to get in touch with Nagelsmann and wanted to explore his readiness for a possible engagement from the summer in initial talks. According to the newspaper, the English were already interested in Nagelsmann’s services in 2019, who was still on the sidelines at RB Leipzig at the time. The coach is said to have turned down an offer at the time.
At Tottenham, Antonio Conte was on the sidelines until the end, before he had to leave the post at the end of March after around a year and a half. The previous assistant Cristian Stellini took over, but after four games with just one win it was over for him prematurely. Since then, ex-professional Ryan Mason has been in charge of the team in his second term as interim coach. The list of candidates for the summer seems long, in addition to Nagelsmann, the “Guardian” also brought the clubless Luis Enrique, Roberto De Zerbi (Brighton), Rúben Amorim (Sporting) and Vincent Kompany (Burnley) into play. Nagelsmann, meanwhile, had also been traded at Chelsea FC, but this option is said to have smashed for the time being.
