Contract extensions of some top players cost FC Bayern a lot of money. Nevertheless, the Munich eyes have an eye on a new addition.
FC Bayern apparently continued to keep an eye on Nico Williams. The 22-year-old winger of Athletic Bilbao had played the focus of numerous top clubs at home in Germany in Germany. As has now been reported in the “Bild” podcast “Bavaria Insider”, the Spaniard is still a topic in Munich.
A problem for the German record champions, however, is the self -prescribed austerity course, in which transfers should only be made to a larger scale if the corresponding income is achieved through player sales.
However, a Williams obligation would not be cheap. The Spaniard has a contract in Bilbao until 2027. Although this is supposed to contain an exit clause, this is probably at least 60 million euros. In addition, there may be additional costs such as a hand money, which could continue to drive up the total price.
Bayern President Herbert Hainer recently emphasized that the club had to act economically carefully. “We have no gold donkey in the basement where ducats come out every day,” he said, pointing out that the club has always put on solid business.
However, this will also be difficult with a view to Florian Wirtz’s desired transfer. A commitment of the Leverkusener would definitely cost more than 100 million euros. The German record champion is all the more forced to save elsewhere.
A new winger is still on the wish list of the Munich. While Michael Olise, who was hired by Crystal Palace for 51 million euros last summer, is already a new addition to the 2025/26 season, the current wing players still have to secure their place in the team.
Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman in particular are considered possible sales candidates. Both are among the top earners with estimated salaries of around 19 and 17 million euros per year and were not always convincing. The expiring contract of Leroy Sané (estimated around 20 million euros in annual salary) could also move those responsible to create financial scope. Then Williams would be a possible replacement candidate.
