FC Bayern is preparing a winter offer for Raphael Varane

FC Bayern is looking intensively for reinforcements for the central defense. One of the candidates is reportedly Raphael Varane from Manchester United, for whom the German record champions are now apparently preparing an offer.

In November, Sky reported that FC Bayern was looking into Manchester United’s central defender. According to the TV station, a commitment is said to be unrealistic. The 2018 world champion would simply be too expensive for the second-place team in the Bundesliga. As a result, Varane currently earns the equivalent of around 20 million euros per year for the Red Devils.

Another problem: Real Madrid, another European heavyweight, is desperately looking for a new player for the center of defense. The Royals should therefore also show interest in signing the Frenchman, who has already played in the Spanish capital for ten years.

Will FC Bayern pay up to 20 million for Varane?

But now Real President Florentino Perez is said to have spoken out against the 30-year-old’s return. This is reported by “Marca”. A move to Madrid would probably be off the table – although, according to “AS”, Varane would have even accepted a salary waiver for a transfer.

This could now bring FC Bayern onto the scene again. According to information from the Spanish sports magazine, the second-placed team in the Bundesliga is preparing an offer for the Manchester United star. There is a transfer fee of between ten and 20 million euros.

An extension of the veteran’s contract at Old Trafford is considered almost impossible. The Red Devils would therefore like to get rid of the defender in the winter so that they don’t have to let Varane leave for a free transfer next summer. Under Erik den Hag, the former Madrilenian hardly plays a role anymore after he moved from Real to England for 40 million euros in 2021.
