Defender wants to change
At the end of May there were the first reports that Benjamin Pavard (27) had informed Bayern Munich that he wanted to move this summer. After Manchester United expressed an interest, according to consistent reports, Inter Milan is now officially involved in courting the defensive all-rounder. According to the “Picture“-Zeitung, the Champions League finalist is said to have offered 25 million euros for the Frenchman – however, Munich would ask for 35 million to 40 million euros. Pavard’s contract ends in 2024 and he does not want to extend it.

Pavard is said to have communicated his change request in a personal conversation on Wednesday. A transfer to Manchester United recently faltered because the move from United professional Harry Maguire (30) to West Ham failed due to the veto of what was once the most expensive defender in the world. Now Inter apparently senses his chance to sign Pavard.

Rental fee €6 million, transfer fee €40 million
In 2019, the national player switched from VfB Stuttgart to Munich with an exit clause for 35 million euros and played 163 games for Bayern, in which he contributed twelve goals and twelve assists. His versatility makes him particularly valuable, as he can defend both in the center of defense and on the right flank. Inter lost Milan Skriniar (28) to PSG this summer on a free transfer and have so far strengthened the center of defense with ex-Cologne player Yann Aurel Bisseck (22) for 7 million euros – goalkeeper Yann Sommer (34) was then brought in from Bayern for 6 .75 million euros. The Munich team, meanwhile, failed when trying to strengthen the right-back with Kyle Walker (33) from Man City.
If Pavard leaves Säbener Straße, Munich would have lost a line of defense within two years: in 2021 David Alaba (31) moved to Real Madrid on a free transfer, in 2022 Niklas Süle (27) went to BVB for free and this summer Lucas Hernández (27 ) transferred to PSG for €45m. Bayern actually wanted to extend all four.
