FC Bayern is eagerly awaiting the return of Jamal Musiala. The statements of someone responsible now give hope.

It’s been four months since Jamal Musiala was seriously injured in FC Bayern’s clash with Paris Saint-Germain – and the midfielder is now working his way back onto the pitch step by step. When the two clubs meet again in the Champions League, Musiala remains a spectator.

The national player sustained the serious injury at the beginning of July, of all things during the quarter-final exit at the Club World Cup against PSG. In Atlanta, the 22-year-old fell to the ground after a collision with Gianluigi Donnarumma. The diagnosis: sprained ankle and fracture of the left fibula.

Max Eberl spoke about the condition of the offensive player during the trip to Paris. “He’s doing very well. The end is in sight,” said FC Bayern’s sports director. Eberl also remembered the moment of the injury: The event was “dramatic” for Musiala and the entire team. The images of the player lying on the ground shocked teammates and opponents alike. Musiala had to be taken off the pitch on a stretcher and flown back to Germany by air ambulance. He was operated on there.

Things are now steadily improving for the DFB star. “The nice thing is that Jamal is doing much better,” Eberl continued. Musiala can move around on the pitch again. For a professional, “the most important thing is that you can smell the grass again, that you can feel the ball,” emphasized the Bayern boss.

However, a return to play is not expected in the coming weeks. Eberl explained: “We hope that in December it will be possible for Jamal to at least have a few minutes with the team again. That would be the ideal situation, that’s what we hope for.”

Musiala will then be fully integrated into the team again next year. He himself recently commented on his progress. After his first runs on the training ground, he explained that they were consciously taking their time. “When I come back, I want to be at 100 percent, at a good level.”

The offensive player probably already has one long-term goal in mind: the World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico is on the agenda in 2026. Musiala would also like to be on the pitch.
