Holger Seitz will stop coaching FC Bayern Amateur after this season. A former Champions League winner is being considered as his successor.
FC Bayern has announced the end of a long era: Holger Seitz will no longer coach the record champions’ amateurs after this season. According to media reports, former Bayern professional Dante is being discussed as a possible successor to the 51-year-old.
As the club announced, the decision is the “result of constructive discussions between the athletic management, the campus leadership and the 51-year-old in recent weeks.” Bayern want to name their successor as head coach of the U23 as soon as possible. According to media reports, the 42-year-old Brazilian Dante should take over the position. He played for Bayern from 2012 to 2015 and won the Champions League with the club in 2013.
Seitz said goodbye on Friday evening. In the 1-1 draw in the last home game of the season against VB Eichstätt, the fans saw him off with a choreo – followed by a farewell in the dressing room by his team. Seitz said: “That was very emotional for me.”
Next week he will play his 189th and final game as an amateur coach in Aschaffenburg. During the summer break, it will also be discussed in what role he could work for the record champions in the future. Since 2015 he has worked in various roles for Bayern’s youth team.
