FC Bayern: Future of 8 professionals around Sadio Mané uncertain

Upheaval in summer?

FC Bayern’s last untitled season in 2011/12 was not followed by any major changes in the squad – no star player was sold. That should look very different in the coming summer. According to the “Kicker”, the future of at least eight people from Munich is hanging in the balance, with a total market value of 293 million euros: some want to go, some should go and some could be loaned out.

The two ex-Ajax pros Ryan Gravenberch (20) and Noussair Mazraoui (25) are dissatisfied with their playing time. Liverpool FC are said to be interested in Gravenberch, while Mazraoui was recently linked with Juventus.

Only top earner Sadio Mané (31) is classified in the “should go” category . The rumored annual salary of 22 million to 24 million euros gross and the contract dated until 2025 should severely limit the circle of potential customers. Striker colleague Serge Gnabry (27), who only scored one goal from the game in 14 Bundesliga games in 2023, is also considered a candidate for a change.

In the case of loan player João Cancelo (28), who was brought in from Man City for six months in winter, it is considered impossible that the purchase option in the amount of 70 million euros will be exercised. What happens to Man United loan Marcel Sabitzer (29) is unclear. The Austrian has been playing regularly since his move on Deadline Day at the end of January and has so far been “totally happy with how it went” (quoted via “Sport Bild”). As of today, he is coming back into a possibly overcrowded central midfield, which Konrad Laimer (25, Leipzig) will also join.

FC Bayern is considering Tel loan – Pavard should decide by the summer

That leaves Benjamin Pavard (27), whose contract expires in 2024, and storm talent Mathys Tel (18), who brought sports director Hasan Salihamidzic from Rennes last summer for 20 million euros and who, if at all, is brought as a joker. When it comes to Tel, there is a tendency in Munich towards a loan – coach Thomas Tuchel wants to decide “very late” in the preparation for the next season whether this will happen: “At the end of August, not before.” Before that, Bayern will push for Pavard’s decision : Renew contract or sell. Otherwise, the Frenchman could become the third top defender in 2024, after David Alaba (30, Real Madrid) and Niklas Süle (27, BVB), who the record champions let go on a free transfer within three years.

In view of the impending season without a title, it is currently not even certain who is taking care of all these personal details that Salihamidzic (contract until 2026) has brought to Säbener Straße since he took office in 2017 – with the exception of Gnabry. It was last reported that if the championship were to be missed, the board would be questioned. Daley Blind (33), who also came from Ajax in the winter and also hardly plays a role – he will leave the second-placed team at the end of the season for a free transfer.
