After long negotiations, FC Bayern and Joshua Kimmich agreed on further cooperation. The key player will be preserved for a while.
FC Bayern has extended the contract with Joshua Kimmich. The 30-year-old, whose current working paper would have expired in summer, signed on Säbener Straße for another four years, i.e. until 2029. The Munichers now officially announced this.
Joshua Kimmich: “At FC Bayern I have the best environment to achieve my sporting goals. After that, I decided. There is currently no better package of players, coaching team and club environment to be maximum.
This ends a month -long saga about the future of the captain of the German national team. Whether Kimmich, who was still considered a potential departure candidate in Munich last summer, would extend his contract for a long time. The Bavarians had recently emphasized that the midfield player kept the midfielder and want to make him the face of the club. Kimmich, on the other hand, had declared that he wanted to think about his decision well. Now both parties have come together.
Sports board member Max Eberl in an official club announcement: “Mentality and identity-Joshua Kimmich stands for that. He has internalized and embodied the DNA of FC Bayern for years and embodies it as far as the field. Where others stop, he only starts. We are very happy that he will continue to go on to our team.”
Kimmich has been playing at FC Bayern since 2015. Since then he has achieved a number of titles with the club, including eight German championships, three DFB Cup victories and the Champions League.
