FC Bayern | Dayot Upamecano was racially insulted after a red card

FC Bayern defender Dayot Upamecano was racially insulted on social media after the 1-0 defeat at Lazio in the Champions League. FC Bayern reacted immediately.

Shortly after the disappointing defeat in Rome, FC Bayern showed a clear edge. “The racist comments on social media against Dayot Upamecano are absolutely despicable,” the German record champion said on the short message service you, Upa!”

Against Lazio, when the score was 0-0, Dayot Upamecano not only saw the red card for his foul in his own penalty area on attacker Gustav Isaksen (69th), but also caused the penalty, which ex-BVB striker Ciro Immobile then safely converted.

FC Bayern is having an extremely difficult time at Lazio Rome

Due to the defeat in the first leg of the round of 16, FC Bayern is now threatened with an early exit; the second leg will take place in Munich in three weeks (March 5th). Then the German record champions have to show a significant increase in performance in order to secure progression.

The foul wasn’t Dayot Upamecano’s only unfortunate action. Shortly after the break (48′), the French international gave the opponent a good opportunity after a mistake.

Dayot Upamecano and his central defender colleague Min-jae Kim were hardly challenged in the first half, but Bayern’s attackers failed to convert the chances into the opponent’s goal. The offensive forces around Harry Kane, Leroy Sané and Jamal Musiala are currently clearly lacking form and esprit.

With one man less, the task for Munich ultimately became even more difficult. In the final phase, Lazio even pushed for the second goal.
