The FC Bayern Munich footballers said goodbye to the winter break with another victory. At the start of the second half of the season, Bayern won 3-0 (1-0) at Bayer Leverkusen and thus consolidated their lead in the table. After 14 games, the Munich team is six points ahead of VfL Wolfsburg, who won 3-1 against Hamburger SV on Sunday.

In front of 3,011 spectators in the Ulrich Haberland Stadium, Franziska Kett gave Bayern the lead in the 16th minute. Afterwards, Pernille Harder had a great chance to make it 2-0, but failed with a penalty kick from Leverkusen’s goalkeeper Friederike Repohl (25th).

Two more penalties

Leverkusen held up well overall, but Bayern took advantage of two more penalties in the second half to secure a clear win in the end.

First, Momoko Tanikawa increased the score to 2-0 from the penalty spot (75th), then Georgia Stanway made the final score with a hand penalty (86th).

Bayern had to play outnumbered for the last few minutes because Katharina Naschenweng suffered a foot injury, but the guests were no longer able to make substitutions.
