Bastian Schweinsteiger is a real club icon at Bayern. Between 2002 and 2015, he ran for the Munich team, once made the leap into the professional squad as his own plant and became a German champion eight times. However, his most beautiful time as a footballer was not the years at Bayern.

The 40-year-old most recently made this statement at the Spobis Conference in Hamburg. There he appeared as a invited guest and took part in a panel discussion. Among other things, the 2014 world champion gave to understand: “I had the most beautiful years as a footballer in Chicago.”

As a reminder: Bastian Schweinsteiger moved to Chicago Fire to the US Major League Soccer in spring 2017 and played a total of 86 mls games (eight goals) for his club.

Previously, Schweinsteiger had tried the English record champion Manchester United, but was not happy there in one and a half years and came to only 18 Premier League missions during this time.

Schweinsteiger justified his surprising confession: “It was not just football, it was the mix. The surrounding area, the family. You could move a bit freely. You were not so under observation.”

Schweinsteiger became German champion eight times

In previous years, Schweinsteiger was one of the best, most successful and above all best known footballers in Germany. Between 2002 and 2015, he enters 342 Bundesliga games (45 goals) for FC Bayern, and in addition to the eight German championships, also collected seven DFB Cup victories and the 2013 Champions League title.

The original Bavarian then clearly made it clear: “Of course, I had the most successful years as a footballer in Munich.”

Schweinsteiger now works as a TV expert and can be seen regularly in the “ARD”.
