FC Bayern: Cameroon foregoes Choupo-Moting at the Africa Cup

Mbeumo is missing injured

FC Bayern Munich can count on the services of Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting at the start of the second half of the season. The 34-year-old was not named in Cameroon’s squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations by coach Rigobert Song.

Choupo-Moting last appeared on the field for the five-time continental champions in September. The 73-time international was already missing from the squad during the last two international breaks in October and November. The list of potential transfers at FC Bayern in January is further reduced. With Min-jae Kim, who will be with South Korea at the Asian Championships, and Noussair Mazraoui (Morocco), only two professionals are missing. Bouna Sarr (Senegal) is injured.

In addition, Cameroon’s Bryan Mbeumo (24) from Brentford FC is also missing the country’s second most valuable player. The 24-year-old will be out until March with an ankle injury. Instead, Song relies on Karl Toko Ekambi and Vincent Aboubakar on the offensive.
