BVB has developed and sold a number of stars in recent years. Borussia also has a sought-after winger in their squad this season.
FC Bayern Munich apparently has their eye on Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund. At least that’s what the TV channel Sky reports. The 20-year-old Englishman has caught the eye with strong performances and is one of the most sought-after talents in the Bundesliga. This season he has already scored nine competitive goals and prepared four more. According to Sky, his goal in the 1-1 draw against Bayern at the end of November in particular made an impression on Säbener Straße.
According to information from the broadcaster, the German record champions have already found out more about Gittens. Coach Vincent Kompany and sports director Max Eberl are said to be raving internally about the offensive player, who is contractually bound to BVB until 2028. A change in winter is considered impossible, but top clubs like Bayern could explore their chances in the summer.
The background to the interest is the uncertain future in the wing positions: Leroy Sané’s contract expires in the summer, and Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry are also considered possible candidates for a change. An alternative to Gittens: Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao.
Bayern have not yet held any talks with Dortmund. At BVB they remain calm and definitely want to keep Gittens. Should the Englishman nevertheless express a desire to change, Borussia could demand a transfer fee of up to 100 million euros. The people of Munich will hardly want to pay such a price. It therefore remains to be seen whether the observation will also become of interest.
