Nutrition is becoming increasingly important in modern top sport. That is why FC Bayern has now apparently become active – to the dismay of competitor Dortmund.
FC Bayern Munich apparently strengthens its team of supervisors with nutritionist Melf Carstensen. As the newspaper “TZ” reports, sports director Max Eberl had recruited the 38-year-old expert from Borussia Dortmund. Actually, Carstensen was contractually bound there until June 30, 2025, but due to the club World Cup that started at the weekend, he had already traveled to the USA with Bayern.
Carstensen, who once worked at Borussia Mönchengladbach and got the nickname “Miraculix” there, relies on an evidence -based nutritional strategy and prefers unobstructed groceries of high quality.
In the past, he repeatedly emphasized the importance of the right nutrition for sporting performance. “The goal is to move the fatigue back to the rear as far as possible-preferably further than with the opponent,” said the expert in an interview with a BVB sponsor in 2022-and added: “20 percent more mileage with the right diet are in it. That is exactly what we need and want.”
In addition, the new Bayern nutrition advisor places great emphasis on inflammatory management in the body and uses, for example, a cherry drink, which he calls “tart cherry”, to reduce inflammation values.
