Women’s Bundesliga
Bayern stars miss top chances in the derby
Updated March 28, 2026 – 2:20 p.mReading time: 2 minutes

FC Bayern’s women can take a big step towards the German championship against 1. FC Nürnberg.
On paper it’s an unequal duel. The still unbeaten leaders from Munich with the best offense in the league (79 goals) host the women of 1. FC Nürnberg and therefore also the second-worst defense (51 goals conceded) in the Bundesliga.
A home win would not mean the final championship for FC Bayern, but it would be a big step towards their fourth league title in a row. Five game days before the end of the season, coach José Barcala’s team is eleven points ahead of VfL Wolfsburg. Follow the game in the live ticker.
FC Bayern Munich – 1. FC Nuremberg 0-0
16th minute – Nuremberg keeps coming forward dangerously, but without really threatening to score. A shot from Emöke Papai from 20 meters goes a meter wide.
13th minute – Bayern’s first big chances after dead balls: Edna Imade comes completely free to head the ball after a corner, but Nuremberg goalkeeper Lourdes Romero makes a great save. After the next corner, Bayern’s Eriksson has a completely free shot from a few meters, but shoots over.
10th minute – The first ten minutes run as Bayern coach Barcala expected. Nuremberg is defensively secure, Bayern have to find solutions, but are still having a hard time.
6th minute – First danger in the Nuremberg penalty area. After a cross from Giulia Gwinn, Julia Pollak hits the ball past, but FCB attacker Barbara Dunst is too surprised.
4th minute – The guests leave early. However, the Bayern women do not let this unsettle them and remain confident on the ball.
Before the game – With another success, the Munich team could equal the club record of 18 Bundesliga wins in a row. The first leg is already a good omen. The 6-0 win in Nuremberg was the biggest win of the season so far.
Before the game – The Bayern women go into the game with a lot of self-confidence after their 3-2 win against Manchester United in the Champions League. Bayern coach Barcala warned in advance of the guests’ dangerous counterattacks. “We have to show good positional play, keep short distances and make both our defensive transition movements and our remaining defense stable.”
