FC Barcelona can become Spanish champions with coach Hansi Flick on Sunday from the sofa. The Catalans won 2-1 at CA Osasuna in Pamplona on Saturday evening after a turbulent final phase.
After former Bundesliga top scorer Robert Lewandowski took the lead in the 81st minute, Ferran Torres made it 2-0 five minutes later. However, the hosts didn’t give up and scored the next goal through Raúl García (88th).
In the table, the defending champions increased their lead over Real Madrid to 14 points. The Whites have to play today in Barcelona against Espanyol – still without a win in 2026 – and win. Otherwise, Flick and his team are champions again before the Clásico between the two arch-rivals at the Camp Nou next weekend.
According to Flick, he will not be watching the Madrilenians’ performance at Espanyol on site. The 61-year-old explained after the victory in Pamplona that he and his wife had tickets for a magic show and that it would be the last performance for the time being. “Maybe I’ll go,” said Flick. “The important thing was to win today, not what happens tomorrow. What was important was to complete our task. Let’s see what happens tomorrow. If we win, we will celebrate. It doesn’t matter when you win – what’s important is that you complete your task.”
