The president of Atlético de Madrid referred to the ‘Negreira case’ in an interview

“Until what is there is proven, everything will be suppositions,” he explained.

The ‘Negreira case’ continues to bring a tail in Spanish football. The last to refer to this controversy was the president of Atlético de Madrid, Enrique Cerezo, in an interview with the magazine ‘Pozuelo IN’, in which he reviewed the current situation of the mattress club on the occasion of the entity’s 120th anniversary.

“I know what you can know and until it is proven, really, what there is, everything will be suppositions. I have been in soccer for 35 years and I have never felt, heard, or thought that you can buy a referee. It’s very difficult to buy a match”, the Atlético de Madrid chief executive acknowledged.

In the aforementioned interview, Enrique Cerezo has also stated that “I don’t understand how you can buy a referee” and that “this is the first time I’ve heard it and I can say that I have never had any suspicious experience, neither against Barcelona nor against anyone”.

Regarding the future of ‘Cholo’ Simeone on the Cívitas Metropolitano bench, Cerezo commented the following: “I always say the same thing, cycles end when people want them to end. We have been with Simeone for 11 years, he has another year left on his contract and if he wants to continue I think he deserves it. There will be no problem for him to renew.”
