Hansi Flick prematurely extended his contract with FC Barcelona, originally valid by 2026. The club announced this on Wednesday. In his first season, the ex-national coach won the national triple of the championship, trophy and supercup at the Catalans and scored an average of 2.31 points in 59 games-this brand overbat in the history of the Barça coaches last Luis Enrique during his term between 2014 and 2017.
“I tell him that he will suffer. I tell him that he should be patient because it is a very complicated place,” predecessor Xavi had given his successor to his successor at the end of May 2024. But Flick conquered Barcelona in the storm-literally, because the cracking of the 100 goal mark in Laliga is absolutely realistic for 99 shot in 37 out of 38 games. In addition, under his leadership, after six years, the Champions League semi -finals were able to move back into the semi -finals, where it ended against Inter Milan.
“I like my own mentality, like to work for this club, the best of the world. And I have really appreciated what I have,” had recently said Flick, whose previous coaching stations were the German national team (2021 to 2023), FC Bayern (2019 to 2021) and TSG Hoffenheim (2000 to 2005). His staff in Barcelona belong to Marcus Sorg, Toni Tapalovic and Heiko Westermann as assistants.
With the LALIGA title, Flick is a ranks of just three German coaches who won a championship in a top 5 league outside of Germany: Bernd Schuster with Real Madrid, Thomas Tuchel with PSG and Jürgen Klopp with FC Liverpool. Franz Beckenbauer won the title in France with Olympique Marseille, but was only a coach until the end of the year and ended the season as a technical manager. On Sunday (9 p.m.), the last game in Flick’s first season at Barça will take place in Bilbao.
