The Blaugrana did not take a shot on goal against Bayern, for the third time in their history in the Champions League

They have all happened in the last year: last year against the Bavarians, also at the Camp Nou, and away against Benfica

Little importance was given to yesterday’s result at the Camp Nou, in terms of the chances of qualifying for each team. Bayern was already assured of first place, while Inter Milan’s victory over Viktoria Plzen left Barça in third place. All the fish was sold. This yes, the honor was in game, but the blaugrana went back to fall. And not exactly standing.

The Bavarians prevailed by a resounding 0-3, this being Barça’s sixth consecutive defeat at the hands of the German team. In fact, of the last 15 goals that have been scored in games between these two teams, all have been signed by the German team.

Barça, at times, was superior to Bayern in possession, but with very little, the visitors put Ter Stegen’s goal in danger. On the other side, Manuel Neuer’s injury prevented him from being under the sticks and, even so, the Blaugrana did not release the gloves of substitute goalkeeper Sven Ulreich.

Xavi Hernández’s men did not take any shots on goal in the 90 minutes. It was the third time that happened in the entire history of the Champions League for the culé team. Interestingly, all three have happened in the last two seasons, more specifically, in the last thirteen months.

The first time was, precisely, against Bayern Munich, also at the Camp Nou, in the first match of the group stage against the Germans. They won 0-3 and Neuer did not receive a shot on goal. The same thing happened to Vlachodimos, Benfica’s goalkeeper, in the second game of last year’s league, which also ended 3-0, Barça also failed to shoot on goal.
