What a liberation for FC Augsburg and coach Sandro Wagner: A deserved 3: 1 (1: 0) home win against VfL Wolfsburg after an intensive fight.

Olaf Jansen

The goals for the FCA scored Noahkai Banks (3rd), Mert Kömür (51st) and Robin Fellhauer (63.). For Wolfsburg, Adam Daghim was only able to shorten in the second section (65th). With the victory, Augsburg climbed past the table with six points with the still stumbling VfL Wolfsburg (five points).

After four defeats in a row, dark clouds had brewed over the Augsburg football sky. Coach Sandro Wagner had also been targeted by the critics – the ice cream is thin for coaches in the Bundesliga business. The young coach had drawn some registers in front of the match and changes: no hotel night before the game, five changes in the starting XI.

Banks is right – early FCA leadership

His players had apparently understood. In any case, they started like the fire brigade – and were able to cheer for less than three minutes: Banks was in front of the box in front of the box after the FCA had a corner kick briefly and kömür had given the ball in front of the box. It was 1: 0 (3rd).

The start for the FCA could not have been better. The early leadership brought courage and self -confidence. The Augsburg attacked their opponents early and extremely aggressively. Unpleasant for VfL, which was exposed to massive opponent pressure in front of his own goal in the game structure. The Lower Saxony did not get along at all. Augsburg had Oberwasser.

Augsburg with fun and a lot of aggressiveness

Before the game, Coach Wagner had tried to put the pressure on his boys. “Play with fun. This is a home game in the Bundesliga. Enjoy it!” He said. Perhaps Wagner had hit the right tone – the next opportunity also belonged to the Augsburgers: Fellhauer flanked from right onto the short post, where Elias Saad finished the ball with the hoe – VfL keeper Kamil Grabara dipped off at lightning speed and turned the thing around the left post.

But of course: At VfL Wolfsburg there are some shiny individualists in the team. One is Mohamed Amoura. The only 1.70 meter tall Algerian international received the ball after half an hour in the left half field and threw the turbo. After Sprint and Klugem cross pass in the middle, teammate Mattias Svanberg was flashy in front of the goal. The Swede took measure – but his shot kissed only the right outdoor post.

Eriksen comes into play, FCA increases

Despite all the power and energy: The longed -for home trial for the FCA would still be a tough piece of work – this should have been clear at half -time. For the second 45 minutes with Christian Eriksen, his counterpart Paul Simonis had also sent his recent star player to the field.

But even the experienced Dane could not prevent VfL from going after a two-goal deficit: FCA defender Chrislain Matsima had conquered the ball in midfield, started a storm run over the right and finally discovered in the center of Kömür. The ball ended up in the youngster and the knipste in a goalkeeper manner to 2-0 (51.).

Intensive – Augsburg and Wolfsburg fought a combat -emphasized match.

Dahmen with a monster parade, Fellhauer with the 3-0

A little later, Finn had to go. The Augsburg keeper, which was just nominated for the national team for the first time, unpacked a monster parade after Amoura came to the shot from eleven meters. With a fabulous pike, Dahmen fished the ball from the right angle (56.).

Now – if late – VfL was awake. Driven by Eriksen, the wolves took command. And got a whole handful of good opportunities. Amoura, Svanberg and Eriksen did not hit the best positions. The game of the game was simply at the FCA that day. The one in the 63rd minute made the supposed preliminary decision: Fabian Rieder had entered the penalty area from the left, had stored in the back field, where Fellhauer had to see the ball after a short dribbling in the Lnke Eck Drosch – 3: 0.

Wolfsburg shortened, Augsburg stays on top

Huge jubilation in the Augsburg arena, which soon disappeared again: Wolfsburg struck back. Eriksen played a magic pass on Amoura, which turned away on the right and served in the center of Daghim, who shot 3-1 from a full run (65.). There was an excitement again. But which increasingly decreased that the closer the further working Augsburgers got the final whistle. Dahmen parried again strongly against Amoura and in added time against Eriksen, that was: the FCA had its urgently needed threesome.
