SBS 6 reality star Monique Hansler, also known as the ‘mother-in-law’ from B&B Vol Liefde, had been trying to chase after the Meilandjes for years. “She is very manipulative,” it sounds.
She clearly loves being in the spotlights to stand and complain about all the hate reactions she receives: Monique Hansler, the mother-in-law of the slavish B&B Full of Love candidate Mike Hansler. Now the two have their own reality series on SBS 6, at the time of the Meilandjes, and it is also well watched.
Own reality series
Antine Algra, the first daughter-in-law who started a relationship with Mike through B&B Vol Liefde, states that Monique was always after fame. In fact, according to her, she had an obsession with fame. “When I was still good with Mike and came over a lot, Monique only shouted one thing every day: ‘We will be the new Meilandjes next year.’”
Mother-in-law Monique had been eyeing her own reality series from the start, according to Antine in the Weekend. “That was her big goal. Not for Mike to get into a relationship or find the love of his life, but for them to be in the spotlight.”
Not a stupid woman
Monique has achieved that goal nicely. “You can say whatever you want, but she succeeded. Monique is not a stupid woman. She certainly knows how to play it. She is manipulative and unpredictable in her emotions and reactions. In the morning you can mean the world to her and in the evening it can just be the other way around.”
Bashing ex-daughter-in-law Denise van der Laan is also part of Monique’s media plan, says Antine. “She knows perfectly well that the more elusive comments like this she makes to Denise, the more commotion there will be and the more often she will be invited to talk shows and interviews.”
Negative attention
Monique doesn’t care if she is bashed, according to Antine. According to her, she gets a kick out of all forms of attention. “Even if it is negative attention. It is attention, and she really likes that.”
“Outside the recordings, I went back to Mike a few times and then Monique told stories that she had signed up for the program Ik Vertrek, that she had previously signed up for Winter Vol Liefde and that she had signed up Mike for Idols in the past. She has been fighting for exposure on television for years. Now she has succeeded.”
