Father and son die in infamous motorcycle race on Isle of Man | Sport

French sidecar driver Olivier Lavorel (35) died on Saturday in a crash in the so-called sidecar race. His teammate César Chanel is still in hospital in critical condition.

On Wednesday, British Supersport driver Mark Purslow (29) was killed when he crashed during qualifying. Northern Irishman Davy Russell also died in the Supersport race two days earlier.

The TT races on the public roads of the British Isle, which lies in the sea between England and Northern Ireland, are notorious. Since the first edition in 1907, more than 250 participants have been killed in accidents. The motorsport event, which lasts almost two weeks, has been canceled for the past two years due to the corona pandemic.
