Fashion brand creates ‘avalanche’ of 200,000 condoms on the catwalk and lets 18+ sounds blare through the hall | show

with photosThe Italian fashion brand Diesel provided a special show at Milan Fashion Week on Wednesday by having models walk around a huge mountain of condoms. The 200,000 boxes should emphasize the importance of safe and pleasant sex, a message that was also much more explicit.

Spectators saw a real avalanche of condoms, writes CNN about Diesel’s show. It started in a dark room, after which the illuminated, bright red mountain of contraceptives loomed up like a kind of futuristic rock.

“We like to play a bit at Diesel, and we’re serious about that,” said Glenn Martens, the brand’s Belgian creative director. “Have fun, respect each other and be safe. (…) We have to remind everyone that safe sex is still important, we can’t forget that.”

Most beautiful girl in the world

Among the models on the ‘condom walk’ was Thylane Blondeau (21), the French woman who, as a child, ‘most beautiful girl in the world’ was named. She wore a fairly simple creation, but Vogue praises the otherwise innovative collection, for example because of the special use of jeans fabric.

That may have eluded spectators during the show, because you lost hearing and seeing. Hard techno blared through the room, interrupted now and then by sounds of women moaning, probably from porn movies.

The mountain of condoms was not only idealistic: Diesel enters into a commercial partnership with Durex. The official invitation to the show was therefore not a letter or e-mail, but a box of condoms. In April, the brand is giving away 200,000 condoms to customers through Diesel stores around the world.

World record

It is not the first time that Diesel has unleashed tongues during the fashion event in Milan: last year the brand even entered the Guinness Book of Records because it created the largest inflatable artwork ever on the catwalk. The nylon creation was over 49 meters long, almost 38 meters wide and 13 meters high.

The condoms as an invitation were still quite subdued, the brand previously tried to lure people with a butt plug and edible candy underwear.
