“This is completely useless. Apart from the cost price: it serves nothing,” says Geert Ampe of the action committee. “Last year, 1.15 million euros was already invested in a bridge that can now be opened and closed in five minutes. This new project is therefore unnecessary.”
The activists also express criticism of the lack of communication. “We are worried, because we hear nothing. Provincial councilors say they follow what the deputation decides, but we don’t get an answer during the deputation,” says Ampe.
The province will make a final decision on the plan on Thursday.
