Farmers continue to block highways near Brussels, Namur and Tournai in protest against Mercosur

Farmers across the country protested on Friday against the free trade deal between the European Union and South America’s Mercosur countries. The farmers occupying parts of the highways in the province of Liège are gradually removing their blockades, the federal police reported around 8 p.m. Other strike posts on the Brussels ring road in Walloon Brabant, and in the provinces of Namur, Luxembourg and Hainaut remain in place.
