And that’s what farmer Jouke, participant of BzV, also wondered when Janine arrived at the reunion with Sander. “We talked about it for a long time: would he come with us.” And farmer Rob was also curious about that answer. “It was exciting to watch.”

BzV viewers saw how the Limburg sheep farmer struggled with her feelings. One of the episodes showed how distraught she was. “I really don’t know who to choose.” In the end she chose Sander.

Rollercoaster of emotions
“It was difficult,” she recalls now. “That is still lightly described. I have felt a whole rollercoaster of emotions. It is difficult to put that into words.” After the city trip, the struggles initially remained with Janine. “After that we got to know each other better. That went too quickly for me. Then I ran the other way for a few weeks. I broke up a bit,” she laughs.

Nevertheless, Sander did not lose his temper. The Frisian continued to visit Limburg often. “I think that was gold.” He also maintained his positivity. Sander thought that 31-year-old Janine would catch up. They kept in touch daily. “Five weeks later she was on the doorstep.”
Room for feeling
Janine is ‘very grateful’ to Sander. “Otherwise we wouldn’t have been here if he couldn’t muster the patience for me.” She thinks she could let go of the panicked feeling the moment she could slow down. “Then there will be room for feeling. You start missing him and you think: ‘It’s a shame he’s only there for half a day’. There are other feelings that I didn’t have at the time.”
Sander kept hoping and had the feeling that Janine needed time. “I never thought I had such patience. Apparently I did. It had to be.” Janine: “He has faith in us. Me too, now. Now I do.”
