Cyndi Lauper gave the last concert at the Hollywood Bowl on Saturday their farewell tourwhere guests like Joni Mitchell,, Cher,, Sza And others said goodbye to the singer on stage.
John Legend, Sza and Cher as surprise guests
Joni Mitchell, who only performed live for the second time in 2025, came on stage for a version of her classic “Carey”. Cyndi Lauper had already covered the piece several times, including at the tribute concert for Joni Mitchell in 2000.
For the next song, Cyndi Lauper John Legend took the stage. Together they performed their hit “Time After Time”.
Further surprises followed in the encore: SZA supported Lauper in “True Colors”. The final conclusion of the “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour” marked “Girls just want to have fun”. For the final, none other than Cyndi Lauper’s girlfriend and former tour partner Cher next to her was on stage.
Review and outlook
In conversation with Rolling Stone, Lauper said about the tour last autumn: “Oh God, this is a bucket list. I have not done an arena tour since ’86. I am excited because I was able to take all these fantastic young women on tour. I was told that a pure women’s tour did not work. ‘Women don’t sell like men.’ Then I went on tour with a cher, and we played in front of a million people.
On the previous shows of the Farewell tour, stars such as Sam Smith, Hayley Williams and Mickey Guyton had already had guest appearances, including at the penultimate concert, also at the Hollywood Bowl.
Despite the farewell, Lauper will soon be on stage again – expected to be included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year.
