The German national handball player Renars Uscins will only wear the jersey of the Lower Saxony Bundesliga team TSV Hannover-Burgdorf for one more season. He will be leaving the “Recken” in the summer of 2027, the club announced on Thursday.
Where the backcourt player will go is still uncertain. Uscins only discussed his time at TSV in the club’s press release. “I am very proud of the last four years with the ‘Recken’ and of what we have built and achieved together as a team. After a season that did not go well for all of us, we want to play a stronger role again in the next season and build on the achievements of previous years. Therefore, there is no thought of saying goodbye at the moment,” said the 24-year-old.
Uscins is linked to PSG
“At the same time, I know that for my further development and the next step in my career I need new impulses to develop myself both athletically and personally,” he added. According to consistent media reports, Uscins is heading to France, to subscription champions Paris Saint-Germain (title winners eleven times in a row) – which would mean he has consistently good prospects of playing in the Champions League.
In four seasons so far, the Latvian native has played 115 Bundesliga games for TSV Hannover-Burgdorf, in which he has scored 500 goals and 272 assists. In six DHB Cup appearances he scored 34 goals and contributed ten assists. He also gained international experience in the EHF European League and scored 93 goals and 40 assists in 25 games in two seasons with Lower Saxony.
“Renars has developed excellently in recent years and has become an important pillar of our team.”
Sven-Sören Christophersen
“We are pleased that he will continue to wear the ‘Recken’ jersey in the 2026/2027 season. Together we will focus fully on the coming season before he then takes on a new challenge for which we wish only the best,” explained sporting director Sven-Sören Christophersen.
Head coach Juan Carlos Pastor looks to the joint sporting future and emphasizes: “Although Renars will leave us in the summer of 2027, I still think it is important that he stays with us for another season. He plays an important role in our team and will certainly continue to improve. Our coaching team will do everything in its power to offer him, as well as his teammates, the best possible conditions for their further development.”
