When does it start?

Officially, the 2025 swimming World Cup from July 11th to August 3. The individual disciplines are distributed over the entire period. From a German point of view are particularly interesting:
– Freil water: from July 15th to 20th
– Basin: from July 27th to August 3rd

Where does it work?

The World Association Fina originally awarded the 2025 World Cup to Kazan Russian. Because of the war war on Ukraine, Russia was eliminated as a host and Singapore took over the 22nd world title fights.

The open water swimmers start on the Palawan Beach in front of the island of Sentosa in the street of Singapore, which is a connection to the South Chinese Sea. The indoor competitions take place in the Singapore Sports Hub. The pelvic swimmers go into the race in the specially built World Cup arena with almost 5,000 spectators.

How are the conditions?

While the pelvic athletes will not have to struggle with the warm-warm summer in Singapore, it becomes more difficult for the open water swimmers. Water temperatures of around 30 degrees in the Singapore street are a burden for the swimmers. The permissible maximum temperature is 31 degrees. Because the value was exceeded shortly before the start of the World Cup and the water was also dirty, the World Association has already released the start by one day.

Who are the German medal hopes?

In total, the German Swimming Association (DSV) sends 46 athletes to Singapore. There are some medal hopes, especially for the swimmers.

-Freil water: After his Olympic debacle and a break, Florian Wellbrock starts at least one medal in all four disciplines (10 km, 5 km, knockout sprint and mixed relay) and, like Oliver Klemet, who won silver in Paris in Paris. With Leonie Beck, a medal candidate has dispensed with the World Cup with Leonie Beck.

– Below: After Olympic and his latest world record over 400 m freestyle, Lukas Märtens, which also starts over the 800 m freestyle and 200 m back, is one of the absolute top favorites. Angelina Köhler (100 m butterfly) and Isabel Gose (1,500 m freestyle) also aim for precious metal. With Florian Wellbrock (1,500 meters freestyle) and European recorder Sven Schwarz (800 m freestyle), it could also be enough for a medal when the course is optimally.

– Synchronous swimming: After her EM triumph, Klara Beyer could be the first German to get a medal at a World Cup.

Who are the superstars?

France’s “Wunderschwimmer” Leon Marchand attracts all attention to the men. After his four gold medals at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, the 23-year-old will certainly be at the top of the podium in Singapore.

For women, permanent winner Katie Ledecky (USA, 21x World Cup gold, 9x Olympic gold) is one of the starters who are one of the safe gold candidates, as is Canadian Summer Mcintosh, who almost delivered world records at the beginning of the year.

Where can I track the World Cup?

In Germany, ZDF will transfer the pelvic decisions to Sportstudio.de in various livestreams from July 27th. Sportschau.de will accompany the swimming World Cup in reports and results. The World Association Fina delivers a wide, free livestream offer via EurovisionSport.com.

What about Russia?

In contrast to the World Athletics World Cup, Russian athletes are approved at the World Cup under a neutral flag. With a large contingent of 113 athletes, Russia will have a say in some disciplines to have a word about medal allocation. “You know little and have not seen them for a long time, but I expect them to fight for medals“, said DSV sports director Christian Hansmann in the run-up to the World Cup.

Which disciplines are there?

In total, medals are awarded in Singapore in six disciplines. In addition to the open water and pelvic swimming, the world champion in 2025 are also sought in water jumping, cliff jumping, synchronous swimming and water polo (without German participation).
